This is just a placeholder... more info to come soon. Once this is complete an invitation will be sent round the mailing list.

Let's build our own smarthome thermostat the way we want it!

HestiaPi is an open project running successfully for a few years now in several homes around the world allowing people to access and control heating and hot water locally or remotely. It is based on Raspberry Pi and interfaces with the world via a web GUI and/or an LCD with 4 buttons for the more traditional people.

We think it's time to move on and start HestiaPi 2.

A smaller, cheaper project with a 3.5" touchscreen running OpenHAB platform at its core expanding connectivity with unlimited sensors and hackability with RasPi Zero(!)

Agenda:

Saturday 19th December:

-Short intro:

What is HestiaPi?
How does it work?
What does it do well?
What does it do not so well?

-Current architecture

-Requested tasks for Hackathon

-Split people in groups

-Hackathon starts!

Sunday 20th December:

-Hackathon continues

-Presentation of the results of each team

-Prize draw (2 HestiaPi shields with LCD)

There will be pizza provided for both days when we'll feel hungry.

People needed:

Developers (java, python, bash)

UI Designers

OpenHAB users

Electronics hackers (anything around RasPi and sensors)

What to bring:

Laptop

RasPi with WiFi dongle or Ethernet cable

USB power supply for RasPi

SD card compatible with your RasPi

Card reader

USB Flash drive
